Penmarlam Quay is located on the
southern bank of Mixtow pill and provides storage and launching solutions to a
wide range of boats. Through the use of our main boat hoist, we are able to
recover/launch boats with displacements of up to 8 tonnes and beams of up to
12' 6". Additionally, we have other plant that can handle smaller boats with or
without their own trailers.
The site
has recently benefited from an upgrade to its electricity points - now card
operated, an increase in fresh water connections and improved road access.
Pressure washing for boats is available. The winter storage rate includes one
wash off
In
addition to the lifting plant, the site benefits from :
- Card
operated electricity points.
- Fresh
water.
- Terraced storage areas.
- Pressure washing facilities
- Toilets and showers.
- Easy
road access from the A390.
- A five
metre wide concrete slipway down to Low Water Springs.
- Shore
linked landing pontoons with overnight berthing and fresh water.
- Parking
Through
the Penmarlam site, we are also able to offer both summer access to the water
and winter storage to even more boat-owners than before.
There are
several packages on offer which range from racked dinghy storage through to
storage / mooring combinations with launching assistance. Additionally, those
who just want to trail their boats down and launch can use the site by either
paying at the barrier or arranging a weekly or seasonal package. This can be
done through the harbour office or via the Penmarlam caravan and camping office
situated adjacent to the boat park barrier.
The Penmarlam boat park is an ideal site
for both individuals and groups. It hosted the Hunter 707 national
championships in 2003, with 60 boats being launched, berthed on pontoons, and
recovered for the three-day event. With 60 associated cars and trailers being
accommodated, the site really showed itself off.
For
further information on events, or group bookings, please contact the Harbour
Office.
Brazen
Island is our own maintenance yard in Polruan. Boats stored here are lifted
by crane with maximum displacements of around 4 tonnes. This facility may be of
interest to residents of Polruan looking to store their boats slightly closer
to home.
Old
Station Yard is our winter storage facility on the Fowey side of the river.
As this site doubles as a summer car park, and access is via the china clay
jetties, boats are recovered on limited days in late October/ early November
and launched Late March/ early April. This site has recently benefited from a
major upgrade to its electricity points and security lighting. It would be of
particular interest to those owners of vessels residing to the west of Fowey as
well as those vessels with long keels/ deeper draughts. The current
displacement and beam limit is 8 tonnes and 12' 6" respectively. Pressure
washing and summer storage of cradles can be arranged at this site.
